How many kilos of cake do I need for 50 people?

In short

Five kilos. It is the question we get most and the sum is simple: on cakes over two kilos we count slices of 100 grams per person, so you just divide the number of guests by ten.

If the cake is going to be the only sweet thing on the table, or if seconds are a family habit, add half a kilo and stop worrying. If there is also a dessert table, five kilos is more than enough.

One thing confuses a lot of people and is worth clearing up: on small cakes the yield is different. A two-kilo cake serves 10 to 15, not 20. The 100-gram rule starts above two kilos.
