Who are L'Autrichienne by Sacher?
A Mexican designed-cake bakery founded in the summer of 1999 by María Esther and her son Jaime, who began baking at home. The first shop opened in November 2000. We were among the first in Mexico to work with fondant and to coin the term pastelería de diseño.
How it started
In the summer of 1999, at home and on a small scale, baking cakes to artisan recipes and looking for designs nobody else was making.
Demand grew and in November 2000 we opened the first shop, with an idea that still holds: not to sell cakes alone, but to give every customer personal attention.
What we brought to Mexican pastry
We developed fondant decorating techniques and introduced them here, and we coined the term pastelería de diseño. We have made pieces for the Museo Soumaya and for Cirque du Soleil.
