Can I put fresh flowers on the cake?

In short

Yes, and at weddings it looks beautiful. It has to be done properly: not every flower is safe against food, and several of the prettiest are toxic or arrive treated with florists' chemicals.

When we use fresh flowers, the appropriate ones are chosen and isolated from the cake so that neither stem nor sap touches the surface. If your florist is providing them, tell us in advance which ones they are and we will coordinate.

Sugar flowers are the other route, and they last for ever. They are made petal by petal, which is why cakes carrying them need the most notice.
